Top three breweries
Balter Brewing Co
After dominating the surfing world, Bede Durbidge, Joel Parkinson, Josh Kerr and Mick Fanning turned their sights to the beer world – with impressive results. Their Currumbin-born brewery Balter has worn countless awards for its tasty beers and gained national recognition. They ended up partnering with Carlton United Brewers (CUB), but you can still visit the original brewery for a refreshing pour straight from the tap.
Black Hops Brewery
Six years ago, three mates decided to start making beer for fun. Now? Black Hops Brewery has four taprooms, multiple awards and an impressive line-up of quality brews under their belt. You can find them stocked in some of Australia’s best bottle shops and venues or stop by one of their two Gold Coast breweries – their original Burleigh Heads taproom (which opened in 2016) or their newer Biggera Waters venue.
Precinct Brewing Co
From the garage of a share house to their own independent brewery taproom in Miami, the Precinct story is an inspiring one. Their small yet mighty team of mates are living their dream, making good beer and a beer-obsessed community in the heart of one of the Gold Coast’s most energetic suburbs. Come for the beer, stay for the menu of appetizers and share plates, and return time and time again for their line-up of live music, comedy events and games nights.
